Hi there, I'm Steve Lunjevich, a highly skilled and experienced painter and decorator, born and raised in New Zealand. At 38 years old, I bring over two decades of expertise to my craft, backed by a national certificate in painting and decorating which less than 20 percent of painters in New Zealand currently carry. I grew up on a beef farm in Kaitaia and began my painting and decorating career at the age of 17.
After moving to Auckland, I trained under my brother, a qualified painter, before pursuing audio engineering at university for a year. Seeking new opportunities, I relocated to Christchurch, where I worked as a foreman painter for two years, contributing to the city's post-earthquake rebuild. Upon returning to Auckland, I continued in foreman roles for several years before establishing my own painting and decorating business in 2017. My company thrived until the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic led to its closure.
Following this, I took on foreman roles with reputable companies such as Wayne Bowden Painters and Programmed Property Services. At these companies I gained more knowledge and experience of the current health and safety regulations, I take this aspect of the construction industry seriously, everyone deserves to go home to their families at the end of the day.
Today, I am the owner-operator of Lunjevich Decorating Limited. As a fully qualified painter and decorator through BCITO, I have extensive experience working on a wide range of buildings across New Zealand. My portfolio includes state homes, everyday residences, new homes, beach homes, historic and modern mansions (some of the finest homes in the country) and various types of commercial and industrial applications. You name it, I've painted it. I have also mastered bespoke specialty finishes such as antiquing, metallic finishes, crackle effect, whitewash, rust effect, and various French-style techniques.
Committed to safety and professionalism, I hold certifications in First Aid, Elevated Work Platforms (EWP), and Working at Heights. With a wealth of experience and a dedication to craftsmanship, I continue to make a lasting impact on New Zealand’s architectural landscape.
